Job Description
The short version
We're building the AI design agent for product teams. We need a Lead Product Designer (3–6 yrs) who's obsessed with why before what — someone who can shape how humans and AI think together on a shared canvas, while making every pixel and interaction feel effortless.
This isn't a "make it pretty" role. You'll define how AI shows up in the design workflow — when it should lead, when it should suggest, and when it should get out of the way.
About Company
It is an AI-powered design platform that helps PMs and designers go from rough idea to production-ready UX — fast. We don't just generate screens in a vacuum. We learn your product context, help you brainstorm, wireframe, build flows, and design—all in a single intelligent canvas.
We're backed by Kalaari Capital and Antler, and were selected for Google for Startups Accelerator: AI First. We're a small, sharp team based in Bengaluru, and we're at the stage where every design decision shapes the product's soul.
What you'll own
You'll work across the full product surface — there's no "your feature vs. my feature" here. In a given week, you might be:
- Rethinking how a PM/Designers and an AI agent brainstorm together on the canvas — what that interaction feels like, not just what it looks like
- Designing the end-to-end onboarding flow that takes a new user from "what is this?" to "I can't work without this" in minutes
- Figuring out the right UX pattern for AI-generated design suggestions — should it be inline? a sidebar? a conversation? Something entirely new?
- Working closely with engineering to ship an interaction that feels native, not bolted on
- Challenging a product decision with a better-framed version of the problem — "we don't need a new feature, we need to fix this flow."
- Crafting the visual language and design system that makes the company feel like a world-class product
What we're looking for
Product thinking comes first. You start with "why does this exist?" and "what problem are we actually solving?" before you open Figma. You've worked in product-led environments where design isn't decoration — it's the product itself. You ask uncomfortable questions early, so the team doesn't build the wrong thing beautifully.
You're a design craftsperson. Your work is polished, intentional, and delightful. You care about the 2px and the 200ms. You have a portfolio that makes people pause and zoom in. You understand layout, typography, motion, and how small details compound into trust.
You understand AI — not as a buzzword, but as a material. You've thought deeply about how AI should interact with humans. You understand the difference between an AI that helps and an AI that overwhelms. You've used LLMs, generative tools, or AI-native products enough to have opinions on what great AI UX looks like — and what terrible AI UX feels like.
You think in canvases and collaboration. Multi-user, real-time, infinite canvas — these aren't just features to you; they're design paradigms. You've thought about (or worked on) how multiple people (and now, AI) can co-create in a shared space without it becoming chaos.
You lead without a title. You don't need direct reports to have influence. You raise the bar through your work, your thinking, and how you engage with PMs and engineers. You make the people around you sharper.
The specifics
- Experience: 3–6 years in product design, with meaningful time at startups or product-led companies
- Tools: Figma (deeply), prototyping tools, and you probably have opinions about the tools you use
- Portfolio: Required — we want to see your process, not just final screens. Show us a messy problem you made simple.
- AI fluency: You use AI tools regularly. You've formed views on what works and what doesn't in AI-native product design. Bonus if you've designed AI-facing UX before.
- Bonus: Experience with design systems, canvas-based interfaces, collaborative/multiplayer products, or developer/designer tools
Who thrives here
- People who are genuinely passionate about solving different problems, not the same problem with a new skin
- People with a problem-first mindset who think from why, not what
- People who see AI not as a threat to design but as a fundamentally new medium to design with and for
- People who want to shape how the next generation of product teams work — where humans and AI collaborate on a single canvas to build better products, faster
- People who want early-stage ownership, not late-stage process
What this is NOT
- A role where you'll get fully scoped briefs and just execute
- A management role — this is a hands-on IC position with outsized influence
- A place for people who think design is only about how things look
